The Haunted Pubs Of York!

The city of York is one of the most haunted citys in the world.
Lets take a look at some of the haunted pubs in the city centre....

First stop, the Golden Fleece.
This pub has been on tv's Most Haunted, and Richard Felix (ex most haunted historian) does a ghost tour from here every couple of months!
This pub is reputed to have at least fifteen ghosts!! A ww2 airman commited suicide here, a ghost named One Eyed Jack has often been seen, he wears a 16th/17th Century red coat and carries a pistol. In the same bar the ghost of a grumpy old man is often spotted sitting in one of the alcoves. The top bar is haunted by the ghost of a young boy from Victorian times. He was trampled to death by the horse that pulled a brewers dray. The ghost of an old woman, and a woman in black have also been seen here, and many more ghosts too.........

An advert for Richards ghost walk and candle lit supper.

The Ye Olde Starre Inne.
There are several ghosts who haunt this pub. The most unusual of these are the ghosts of two cats. They were bricked up in a pillar between the door and the bar for some reason. They are supposed to be the cause of strange noises, and also the reason why dogs behave strangely around the pillar.

Here are some people on one of the many ghost walks, which take place in the city!

Next stop, the Snickleway Inn!
The cellar of this pub is haunted by Something Evil, which turns off beer taps and makes the cellar very cold!
Upstairs, a spirit is not seen but when she is around, people can smell lavender. A young girl in Victorian clothing has been seen outside, sitting on the steps. It is believed she was killed when a horse cart carrying beer ran over her on the street just outside the pub.

The Black Swan.
A man in a bowler hat is often seen waiting impatiently at the bar, whilst a beautiful woman believed to be a jilted bride is often seen sat by the fire. In the main bar there is a clay pipe mounted on the wall, found during rennovation work which is said to send a chill down the spine of anyone who removes it from the bar area..

The large fireplace.

Heres the cursed clay pipe!

Me, at the bar!

After my ghost hunting, i decided to have a well earned donner kebab!

Then i got a taxi back to Wetherby.
Oh, and don't have nightmares LOL

Nice post. Been in most of them. Love the York pubs. Not experienced and ghosts as yet apart from the haunted house on Stonegate.
