As usual its a quiet time of year on here, as the weather isn't ideal for days out e.t.c.
However, i am going to London (just for the day unfortunatly) at the end of February, and i will also be having a day out in Worksop and Sheffield.
All the pics will be on here!

I arrived at Earls Court tube station, and walked to my hotel.

I got the bus to Harrogate and got the last bus to Pannal...

I arrived at Pannal Methodist Church, which is where my great Grandfather (Joseph Clapham) was a Lay Preacher.

I went to York today, to get some new boots.

There was a food festival in the city centre...

Bought two pairs of boots, and then i had a walk along the city walls...

This is the entrance.
There is a shed on the right, which is where you pay the £2:50 entrance fee.

There are no signs to guide you on your way (unfortunatly).
The best way round is to head left towards the dam, and cross over.

The Garden Museum - London!

I had a look around the garden museum, which is just across the river from the Houses Of Parliment (westminster).

The museum is in an old church, and the garden is the graveyard...

Inside the museum, there's plenty of historic gardening equipment and other things on display, and there is a cafe too.

Then you can go into the Knot Garden for a walk around...

This was one of the first pubs Iron Maiden played gigs in, unlike the Ruskin Arms (which is being converted into flats) this pub is still open, and still has live bands playing gigs there today!

I went for a bike ride to Tadcaster, to take some photos and have a wander around...

I locked my bike up and headed towards the town centre...

Next door to that is the Samuel Smith's brewery (just to the right of the pub).

A Visit To Harewood Castle!

I went for a bike ride to Harewood, to see the castle.
I used to go there when i was a kid in the 1980's.

A friend of mine lives in Canada, and he loves going to Tim Hortons (its a Canadian version of Starbucks).
Anyway, he found out that you can get Tim's coffee in London (56 Haymarket SW1), so i thought i would try some...

The London Tim's is a self service coffee and doughnut counter.....

A Visit To Worksop!

After my wander around Sheffield, i got on the Lincoln train and arrived at Worksop station!
This is a small pub that is part of the station building (it used to be the cafe). I had a pint in here before going back home, early in the evening.

I decided to take a picture of Mr Straw's house...

When Mr Straw died, his house still had furnishings from 1923.

I walked into Worksop town centre, and saw a new sign next to the canal...

There are Worksop Trail signs all around the town, with info about the history of Worksop.

I decided to have a day out in Worksop (i used to live there 30 years ago). I had to change trains at Sheffield, so i decided to have a look around before getting the Lincoln train (which passes through Worksop station)...

This pub is called The Golden Ball. Not surprisingly, the locals have various nicknames for this pub LOL.

This is the water fountain in York city centre. Sometimes people put washing up liquid into it, and the street gets filled with foam :-)

Then i hit the clubs, and felt very old and tired..........

A Bike Ride To North Rigton!

The road to North Rigton, where some of my ancestors lived. They were farmers...

This was one of the farms my great grandparents lived in.

I went for a couple of drinks in the village pub, its very nice in there now!

Then i went to the church to visit my great grandads grave...

My great grandad, Joseph Clapham was a North Rigton and Brackenthwaite farmer, and a Wetherby town councillor (North Rigton was part of the West Riding Of Yorkshire back then, and part of the old Wetherby rural district council).

He was also a Methodist lay preacher (im not sure what kind of Methodist he was though, as he drank beer in the pub, and he liked to bet on the horse racing).

BTW. I am not a Methodist myself, and im not religious.

Murder At The Blind Beggar!

The Blind Beggar pub in Whitechapel.
In the 1960's this was part of the Kray twins manor (the area they conducted organised crime).

Inside the pub...

Ronnie Kray shot and killed rival gang member George Cornell in this pub, on the 9th of March 1966.

Here is a photo of the Kray's and the pub, which is on a wall in the main bar.

Here i am having a Guinness, its quite safe to have a drink in here there days!

I went to visit the Museum Of London (which is free entry), and afterwards i had a look around the nearby Roman walls...

There were two pubs up there, but both of them were closed down, and borded up :-(

Horror At The Ten Bells!

This is the Ten Bells pub in Spitalfields (near Whitechapel) London.
The pub was built sometime before 1752, and in 1888 it is believed that some of Jack The Ripper's victims may have been regulars in here (perhaps even the Ripper himself).

I had a drink, and decided to pop to the loo...

I could not have imagined the horrors that awaited me!!!

A Walk To Alexandra Palace!

This is the Alexandra Palace train station.

I walked up a big hill to have a look at the Alexandra Palace...

Alexandra Palace was built in 1873 as a public centre of recreation, education and entertainment.

The very first BBC television broadcasts were made and transmitted from here in 1936.

Today it is used to broadcast BBC local radio programmes.

Boris's Bikes!

Mayor Of London, Boris Johnson's new cycle hire scheme has been up and running for over a week!

There are 400 docking stations across London (there are plans for more in the future).

Its a good and cheap way of making short journeys, but if you need a bike for a couple of hours or more its very very expensive!

In the long run you would be better off buying a small folding bike, which you can take on the tube (or bus) and then unfold it and cycle to your destination.

Nice idea Boris, but i don't think i will be signing up anytime soon........

Amen Corner - The Haunted Street!

This is Amen Corner in London, just down the road from St Pauls.

Many people have seen a black shape, crawling along the wall that backs onto the place where people executed at Newgate prison were once buried.

Fortunatly, i did not see anything........

Im going on my summer holiday to London (staying at Earls Court as usual) on monday the 2nd of August.

A Bike Ride To Kirkby Overblow!

I called in at the graveyard just outside Kirkby Overblow, and had a look at my great great grandparents grave (William and Martha Clapham)

Then i started walking into the village.....

The shoulder of mutton pub. I called in for a glass of wine!

I also had a drink in the star and garter.....

I had a look in the church graveyard, to see if any of my relatives were buried there.

I could not find any though!

On the way home i called in to the scotts arms in Sicklinghall for a quick drink :-)

The Angel Re Opening Delade!

The Angel pub in Wetherby was due to re open on monday the 26th of April.
Unfortunatly, it will now open on friday the 30th.
The downstairs wine bar and restaurant will remain closed, but the upstairs disco bar will be open, via the side entrance (on the right side of the building under the archway).

As its spring i decided to get my mountain bike out, i pumped up the tyres, and headed off to Knaresborough.

On the way home i had a rest in Little Ribston, and ate a sausage roll........
